And another one from North Wales

Post: # 87808Post MrFalafel »

Hi All.

I've been reading some of the threads and have learned so much in such a short amount of time.

I've recently taken the plunge and have ditched my suit and tie London job in favour of a local North Wales job for far less salary than ever in the search for a better quality of life (I guess they call in Downshifting). I am originally from California and lived in solar homes and read Mother Earth News religiously and want to add as much as that homesteading lifestyle into a terraced house with almost no yard to speak of :D

The little allotment on a slope has been going for a couple of years with varying degrees of success. We're trying the Square Foot Gardening method using raised beds. Anyone else try that? Been battling slugs and birds and funny weather but its been a great learning experience.

Looking forward to learning more and hopefully contributing!

Cool! We've noticed all of the rosehips growing in the wild around our area and we're going to give making rosehip wine a try, just for a laugh.

My wife has a small chocolate business and she sells them at local food fairs. The best part of that is that she barters her chocolate for other local foods and we have amazing local jams, breads and even local beer in exchange.

Lots of stuff out there.

Hello, S'mae (as some say in this area!).

Think my nearest farmer's market closed. It was on a Sunday and as I don't drive, would have gone by bus (though there isn't a great service).
