Leap day

Post: # 82881Post red »

the 29th of Feb is on a friday . I think we should celebrate it. Thats cos i like celebrating. I love all the little festivals.. burns night, pancake day, easter, valentines, mid summer, michaelmas.

I googled.. and there does not seem to be a something you should do for 29th.. and it seems a shame since it comes round every 4 years ish.
how should we celebrate?

Hmmm, there is the Woman are allowed to propse to Men in a leap year... but I don't know if that is just on the leap day...

I was going to suggest either a Volunteer Day or a Charity Day... companies, workers and the tax man donate all there earnings for the day to charity (as its a bonus day anyway) Or you give your time to charity for the day.

But that sort of goes against the celebration thing...

I have to also spread the word of 'Scone Tuesday'
It is the Tuesday after Pancake Tuesday and was invented by me because my lovely ex-boss tried to get pancakes in for us all (80 staff) but they were all sold out in Greggs, so I told her that we should celebrate Scone Tueday the following week... and thus the celebration was born - we had Scone Tuesday for the next 4 years.

well, I might have to honour your tradition of scone Tuesday, Ann. Traditions must be upheald after all

yes 29th Feb is the day women are 'allowed' to propose. (Though I cant see why they cant ask any other day either...) I'm not going to do this, since I am married already.. think himself might get all narky

QB - i was thinking of something food related yes. :occasion5:

If we're thinking food-wise, something seasonal would be good.

Ooh yes....a celebration! I like that idea very much indeed.
Tomorrow is Imbolc, but I very much doubt I'm going to skipping round my garden welcoming in the Spring. More like huddling round the fire wondering when my roof is going to blow off...so I'm well up for a celebration to make up for not having a proper Imbolc bash!
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

Bit warm for a fire around here (unless confined to a BBQ) but I like the idea of lots of food!

If you were born on February 29th then you should definitely have a pull out all the stops, mother-of-all celebrations. I've a friend who had the biggest seventh birthday imaginable - most bizarre to see a fully grown seven year-old under the table!

There should be a most definite celebration!! I like your idea of the charity stuff Ann!

Went for a lovely walk yesterday morning, though it felt nothing like spring LOL... it was freezing, snow on the ground and just beautiful. I watched the sunrise and all was perfectly quiet. Birds and animals were all I could hear. Couldn't light a fire though - wind got up later in the day.
