A very shy wave from just outside Glasgow...
Hello everyone, hope all are well.
Yep, another newbie. I'm a complete beginner with very limited space (a very small council house garden!). I grew some herbs last year that were really successful (despite the constant rain) and I'm hoping to start with some tomatoes and runner beans this year. Just waiting on the delivery of my lovely composter too....
Have been on the list for an allotment for the past 18months, have been told it can be quite a wait though....most frustrating!
I can't do much at the moment because of the space limitations, but I do what I can...including foraging wherever possible, which is...erm...great fun with an enthusiastic toddler!
Love the site, it's been a source of great ideas and I've passed the details on to loads of likeminded friends.

I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

Welcome to 'ish
You can do quite alot with a small garden and a sunny window ledge
Here's hoping it won't be too long before you get your allotment.
Are you N,S E or W of Glasgow? I recently moved from a flat in the south-side but I grew up in the west-end.

Thanks for the welcome! It does indeed feel very friendly here indeed!
Ann, I'm out in Bothwell - though alas not in one of the rather flashy houses! But it does mean I can pretend to friends that I'm 'almost rural' (rather than the reality of being awkwardly sandwiched between Hamilton and Cambuslang) because there are still a few fields here nobody has thought to build on yet....
As for the allotment..well, as the chap from the council told me (when he phoned to check I was 34 not 84), I need to wait for someone to die before I'll get one!

It's just not fair that some people get 2 or 3 plots when there are waiting lists that long
Lets hope they just all give up allotmenteering, rather than die... that's a bit morbid.
Bothwell is not so bad, and close enough to the country that you can go for lovely walks I bet.
I'm down by Lesmahagow, only 25 mins south... proper farming countryside out here.
Join in with the chat, it is lovely and friendly here... and loads of people to answer your questions.
Enjoy

Hello again...and thanks for more welcomes!
Wow. Lesmahgow (sp!!)...it's so lovely over there. Here it seems like a 'who can build the biggest house with no available garden' competition.
