Yet another Nz'er!
Hello!
I've just found this forum tonight ... looks like I've got a lot of reading to do.
Unfortunately it will have to wait until tomorrow as it is 11pm here in NZ. See you tomorrow. I'll try and write a better intro then.

Good morning. Thanks for the welcome.
Ok the proper intro ... I am a SAHM of 2 living with my DH on just under an acre of land. We moved here nearly two years ago and I'm still fighting a never-ending weed battle. Sigh. The previous owners had built a raised vege garden complete with bird netting all around so last summer I was brave and had my first ever vege garden.
This summer I am having a go at succession planting, the aim is to supply around 75% of my own fruit and veges this year. Already I've hit problems which will reduce that number considerably ... all three plum trees have failed to fruit, the avocado was damaged when a new septic drainage area was installed, the olives have disappeared and something is eating my strawberries
Mutter mutter. I don't actually know how old many of the trees are in our garden so I guess I can hope that fruit production will get better in time.
We also have 3 chickens (had 4 but one died a few weeks ago) and two lazy-eat-anything-but-what-they-are-supposed-to-goats. My poor DH often has to mow their paddock to keep the grass down
They are fun to watch though, such playful things. They are pets only (one came with the property and we got the other as a friend/companion).
Over the past year I've reduced my cleaning agents to baking soda and white vinegar with the occasional other product thrown in. I only washed my hair with commercial shampoo three times last year ... I never expected to enjoy no-pooing, so it has been quite a surprise to still be doing it a year later. I must try and find a conditioning treatment though as apple cider vinegar just doesn't do it for my hair.
My daughter has a few allergies so I have been baking my own bread for about a month now. I'm finding that quite a mission, not the making it part just the remembering to do it bit
I'm planning to start making my own soft cheeses this year and to make my own yoghurt from scratch instead of buying commercial yoghurt making sachets.
So, I've lots of goals for the year. I think I've found this forum just at the right time.
I hate to admit this but I've already spied a NZ'er that I have 'met' on another forum
. Small world
