Hello

Post: # 76489Post Beloved »

Hi I'm Cheryl from Sydney, I've been lurking here for a few days and have decided it was time to come out of the shed.

I've wanted to be self-sufficientish for a long time but have really only just started. Right now I have hardly any food crops, some potted capsicum, a chilli, mini nectarine, mini lemon and the beginnings of a lemonade tree. Oh I forgot a ngelected raspberry that I got maybe 5 raspberries off last season (it's first). But wait there's more - a couple of cherry tomatoes, lettuce and strawberries - hmm I'm further along than I thought. I haven't had a harvest with those yet. My yard is a mess, I'm working on clearing weeds from beds out the back, dividing and moving the few plants I have there was think of food crops between them.

Away from the garden I am into many crafts - sewing, cardmaking, quilting and my latest foray is spinning. So far I've only done wool, I learn to spin raw wool this past week. One day I want to try cotton and am trying to grow it myself. I was given a handful of cotton and planted some of the seeds, I noticed sprouts yesterday with more today.

Well that's a little about me, I'm happy to be here.\

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl

It all sounds rather exotic - what's a lemonade tree?

Welcome to the boards.

Thanks for your welcome Chickenlady - are you sure you aren't my neigbour, she call her the Chickenlady.

A Lemonade tree is a citrus - it has a sweetish lemon flavour, the fruits are yellow but are round like an orange. Haven't had fruit on mine yet.

Nev,

You could teach me to spin cotton, what say we meet up at somewhere along Annangrove Rd :cooldude: , maybe on a Thursday night?

Are you feeling stalked right now?

I read your cotton article and noticed that you mentioned Jenny, I am in her Tuesday class. She's the one who gave me the seeds. I spoke to her this week about learning to spin cotton when I had enough boles and she told me that she had a man in Thursday's class who was doing that. It clicked, I thought it was you and it was. Small world huh?

I googled your name (there's the stalker tendancies again) for more articles - I found a study that mentioned the suburb you (or somone with your name) lives. If it's right, I'm not too far from you, I'm at Doonside.

And thanks to everyone for their welcomes

Cheryl

OK Cheryl.....you got me

Yup! it is a small world....I am in St Clair, and there is a bit of my stuff on the net, mainly through Andy!

Unfortately the Thursday night class is folding due to Jenny's other committments so I will have to spin solo from now on (when I get time).

Good to know that you're out there anyway, (I never had a stalker before!).
