A weather tale

Apologies for not rewriting this here, but if you want to read what my morning's been like, have a look at Once more unto the storm...

I hope people will understand why I don't have the energy to write the story twice!

glad to hear you're ok - funnily enough, when I heard the shipping forecast late last night, I thought "those poor b****rs near Aberdeen" when they predicted a blow......

I wouldn't dare call him baby!! He's a "Wee Big Lad" now.

Something that a few people have commented on in response to our outing was how well he'd handled it.

But, they overlooked the preparation for our walk.

When I collected him from nursery, we had a talk about the bad weather and how we'd have to walk home. We talked about being careful and safe, but how it would also be a huge adventure.

Then we had to buy "rations" for our adventure, get him wrapped up tight, and only when he was ready did we set off.

As a result, he was perfectly happy to head off into the storm with me.

It was the same on the walk. I'd encourage him, ask him how he was going, ask what he could see etc, but all in a very positive, upbeat way.

So for him, it was a magnificent adventure with a few cold moments along the way. He particularly enjoyed the picnic in the middle of the storm.

It's much better, much safer and much more fun than having a panicky, scary walk home.

How amazing that so many people passed you by before your lovely lady stopped.

:cussing:

That storm is heading our way tonight. The East Anglian coast is due to take a battering (glad I am inland!)

Blizzards here this morning. The snow is trying to settle but the wind keeps scouring it away. Brrrrr!

Those winds have been bellying up the north sea and it's hitting the coast just down the road about now, I'm enjoying the slightly hysterical (not in the funny sense) journalism on GMTV at the moment - encouraging a nice old lady to cry about her missing cats etc. Fingers crossed it won't be as bad as first thought for Yarmouth, 'Stoft and assorted villages. Apparently 50 odd years ago at the last big flood a notable part of Norwich also got sunk - so I'm really hoping it won't be quite so awful this time. Hope none of our Dutch members get badly affected as well.

It's nowhere near "too cold", but it has been getting close to "too windy"!

Oh Stoney. I did feel for you as I sit here in my centrally heated house with a cat on my lap. I won't ever complain about my walk home from work again. You are clever keeping the wee'un upbeat like that. A lot of parents and teachers could learn a lot from you.

I have offered to do story telling at the school nursery (as I did at playgroup, and not forgetting I write poetry and short stories, and used to perform in public for moola) but they don't need the help. Which is strange as they keep appealing for help...

But the children and I have a cunning plan. I arrive early at the waiting room, get the Wee Lad changed and as the other children arrive with their parents, guess who's reading or telling stories?
