Btw, butternut: I planted a couple last year and didn't get anywhere with them. I think I had one small fruit between the two plants, so I decided not to grow them again this year! Maybe they just need it warmer than our climate.

I finally planted out my pumpkins, courgettes, squash etc etc today: on top of the muck heap, inside tyres - and the Queensland blue covered with glass, too. Not taking any chances! It's been a blimming cold June (after the hot April and May
). Only just picked my first strawberry, too...

Am now harvesting some butternuts as the plants have completely died off. I thought butternuts were like a really, really peachy colour? Mine are more skin tone than peachy. Will they ripen in the sun now or have they not done properly?
