Ok I'm really upset right now

Do you know about an event that you want to talk about? Is there a campaign you have started, are involved in or want to start? Inspired by Marvin Gaye this is your place to tell the world what's going on.

I been wondering about this too- if it was this forum that the picture was removed from I'm pleased about it, I'm not an Ostrich person I know where I can find that information and imagery online and through other sources. The more people are exposed to graphic violent images the more 'hardened' the general populus become (hence the video/game/film debate) and the images beome a gruesome oggoling sideshow rather than the powerful image and stimulation for debate they should be. A reasoned debate is respectful to the dead and their surving family, sensationalism isn't. I come to this forum for different reason- I want debate about green issues and self-sufficiency thats why I'm here, I fail to see why images of death and mutilation are relevant to 'ish.

kind thoughts
Deb

indeed. I wouldn't want them on here purely for the fact that my daughter comes and sits with me; yeah she's young but i never know when she'll start remembering stuff.

And when i worked for the local paper, the day after the boxing day tsunami we got ALL the photos. I mean all of them. What people don't tend to realise is that no matter how harrowing photos are in the latest edition of a paper, the picturedesk team will have seen far worse and been the censors over what is acceptable to be shown to the general public. I still get nightmares over some of the stuff I saw from that and the 7/7 bombings in london.
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

I respect the views and opinions of those who believe pictures like that are necessary, but in the interests and values of this forum, had i seen the link, i would have deleted it.

Unless it is a forum/site that is dedicated to showing these types of pictures, it is unneccessary to show them.

I have not seen the link (nor would i wish to). i understand those that say that these crimes should not have been covered up. Turn on Casualty/The Bill/Crime dramas and there will be pictures of death (admittedly most are made-up and do not show 'real' people). These pictures do desensitise people.

I feel that looking at a webpage with pictures of deceased people is disrespectful. When there is a road accident and there is a dead body, they are covered up to reserve their dignity. The same should be afforded to any dead person no matter how they died.

There have been plenty of pictures of real death in the newspapers - the heroin/Ecstasy victims come to mind. The families of these people have been consulted, and in some cases have requested for the pictures to have been shown. Although pictures of dead soldiers/civilians in war may jolt the public, i fear that it is too late and they will not.

Yes, yes my apologies I did leave this in the lurch. Sorry to all who were confused it was a bit of a mix up. No it wasn't on this forum

Regarding the opening post, I was letting off steam about a particular thread I was on in another forum. I usually have three or four windows open at any one time and this colour scheme is very much like another forum in which the post should have been. (explains why I couldn't find it again  )
Anyway soz about that. :cooldude:
