my own little ISh moment!

Post: # 73638Post frozenthunderbolt »

Walking home up my road after working at the orchard, one of my long suffering work shoes suffered a total catistrophic failure!

Sole came off upper, and liner fell out - given they had lasted 2 years and i bought them for $15 at The Warehouse (equivilent to your T****** i think) this wasnt bad.

HOwever, i did still need to get home and didnt realy fancy walking on stonechip/tarseal for another 2-3 K in my socks.

So, i found some broken glass beside the road. I think in nz you are never more than 100 M (90ish feet) from a bottle - broken or otherwise.

I used this to pierce two holes in the sole section of the shoe and use the lace to turn it into a jandel/flip-flop/thong/sandle type of thing.

This lasted me a good distance up the road with minor running repairs using a bit of electric fencing i found on the verge.

When i finaly gave up repairing it i was almost home, so wipped off the other shoe to even me out and walk the last bit in my socks!

Great to meet someone with the same kind of "WTF can I mend this out of...??!" mentality!!

T***o is more of a conglomerated super-hyper-mega market which will one day rule our lives, eventually taking over the world in a big brother-esque way leaving all housing looking like this:

... NZ's The Warehouse does sound incredibly similar, except that t***o sells groceries as well as other stuff... so in that respect your Warehouse is more like our Wilkinsons or Millet.

aaanyway, much 'spect for the mendingness.
