Hi Everyone
We are situated in Bulgaria, and growing our own food is going to be very strange, as we have asked the locals but when you dont speak fluant Bulgarian its difficult, and not knowing the planting times.

Life in Bulgaria

Post: # 72802Post chalkie »

Hi All

Thanks for your welcome posts. Well we came to Bulgaria last October to look for a house and a new life, after seeing 6 houses a day from mountains to lowlands 9 days we were pretty tired but the Bulgarians are such warm and welcoming people, and the countryside is stunning we are in a semi mountain village, Glavan in the Stara Zagora region.
Anyway we had a list of 3 to make a choice from and choose the last house we saw then back to England we then decided to sell up and move here full time. We moved here in May of this year, and finally moved into our house in August.
Every day the locals come up and want to see your house which is totally different to theirs and they bring you vegetables, wine, fruits etc and then you get invited to their house, and from there to another house have a small market day in the village, sometimes it takes us about 3 hours there and back by the time you have a coffee in this cafe and then someone else invites you for coffee in another cafe, and that's how the days go sometimes.
Our house has a rental apartment upstairs so this will be a source of income. My partner Hilary handcrafts semi precious bead jewellery and she hopes to continue her small business here in Bulgaria
Well more next time hope you enjoy

Tony & Hilary

Hiya Chalkie, and welcome!

With all those friendly locals around it shouldn't take you long to learn the language... And until then you can best watch and learn from what you see the others do. Good luck with it all!
