I hear so many times people telling me that they only like big dogs because they "behave like real dogs" etc. I have always kept tiny aswell as very large dogs as I simply like dogs. My tiny dogs, chihuahuas, little yorkies etc have always been treated exactly the same as the big dogs, get raw food, bones, plenty of fresh air and exersize etc. One of my best ratters was a tiny 5lb yorkie bitch, who, when she was 8 weeks in whelp, tackled a huge female rat nearly as big as herself, killed it and spent the next few minutes trying to walk about showing it off, only it was so big that with her head held as high as possible and her neck at full stretch, it still kept tripping her up so she spent the time shaking it severely just to make sure it was properly dead. Even little chihuahuas, are all dog, just in a tiny body. My little female 'Baby-Daisy', whups the backside of the Gordon setter pup who is a month older than her, if he gets in her way. I think they firmly believe they are big dogs born into little bodies lol.
Little dogs have their place in society just as in ancient Tibet, the Tibetan spaniels (I have one of these) with their sharp hearing and agility would jump up onto the parapets of the city walls and "yap yap yap" if they heard or saw strangers approaching, which brought the huge ferocious Tibetan mastiffs lumbering up to defend the city if needed. So my little dogs are first to start yelling if someone comes to the house and the big dogs follow up to show themselves and warn off strangers. I swear I should get some kind of discount for house contents insurance because there is no chance of anyone breaking in and stealing anything with this lot, even if I had something to steal which I don't. My friends make a joke saying that if someone broke in, they would feel so sorry for me they would leave me a tenner hehe
Yup big dogs are nice and they impress people, but little dogs are great, you can keep more of them, they fit nicely on your lap, they cost less to feed, don't need lots of exersize and have just as much character as big dogs.
