Just wondering if you have found a good satellite supplier? We are looking into that too, for when we move, http://www.farmside.co.nz/ seemed the best for where we are.

Yes I found Scorch cover our area (West Eyreton) and for their top plan and including voip phone it is $106 a month.
Don't have the money to spare for a bit but it's good to know that we can get internet when we do.
How does that compare to Farmside?

This is what Farmside sent me, obviously better rates if you are a CRT or similar shareholder...

Hiya Sky, and welcome to the ishers!

I hope you have more luck with satellite than we've had - we had a satellite connection at work, and it was very dodgy... Mind you, snow filled satellite dishes might not be a problem for you

, but ours didn't seem to like other weather conditions, either - and somebody seemed to hog our satellite, which made it extremely slow at times - the providers never found out why!

We are now finally on broadband, and it's a world of difference.

Took me a while but I'm back, I've got the house sorted and also the local work but the soil here is like cement .... no joking it's so hard it would need a pick axe to even plant something.

So just lately I've been working full on to pay the bills and what not but I need ideas on how the heck I can grow veggies here .... we have thousands of pine trees so I said to the hubby that we should cut some down and build raised beds to put soil in (we'd have to buy it in mind)

Anyways just wanted to say hi again before I start posting in ernest :-)

Sounds like what you need is loads of compost... And muck. And I seem to remember Wombat had good ideas for soil treatment in your climate.
