organic pellet chicken poop

Post: # 71892Post mew »

I bought some of this yesterday for my veg beds - just wondered if anyone uses this instead of rotted horse muck?

Yep it's brilliant. Puts a good level of nitrogen back into the soil. And you don't get the bonus weeds that horse manure seems to give you.

Only good if you use the bought variety though or if you rot down your own (chicken that is) poop over at least a year. Too acidic for soil else, plants may die.

I rot all my chicken poop down in the general compost heap to dilute it out and then only use it after a year.

Hope this helps
