Sky says hi

Post: # 71437Post Sky »

Hi I'm Sky, I own ten acres in New Zealand and would like to one day become self sufficient.
It's real bad timing that I should happen across your site just as I am about to be without telephone landline or internet, due to electric fences and lack of our own finances.
I have one week to cram all the knowledge on this site and then I will have to rely on Oxford library internet when I can get there.
Thanks for letting me join this fab forum

Hello Sky

Welcome to Ish.... love the photo. It's always lovely to see who we are talking to.

I hope you'll get online when you can and that you get your phoneline/internet access back soon.

Thank you Image but the locals were leaflet dropping to find out who was not maintaining their electric fences just last week and pleading for them to just go and check to see if they were the ones making life impossible for lots of rural businessess.
I don't think it will be ever resolved and also I don't want to be beholden to NZ Telecom.
So will visit the local library lots to view this forum and save up for satellite internet too ... have found a supplier but we have no spare cash.

Welcome Sky, nice pic!

Now admitting great ignorance: what does electric fencing have to do with phone/internet???

Hi Jandra :)
The pulses from the electric apparently disrupt the connection so it makes landline internet almost impossible to use. I'm no expert it's just what the neighbours on the surrounding blocks have been telling me. I listened on one of our neighbours phones and you can hear a constant clicking noise.

Me too - I thought it was because you had to cough up too much money for the fencing so couldn't afford the bill!

Hello and welcome by the way!
