Hello from Carnoustie everyone!

What a brill site. Ever since I read my dad's copy of John Seymour's Complete Guide to Self-sufficeincy in the 1980s I hanckered after such a life.

Can't afford a farm though, so my little garden will have to do. We have a local group here who have just got the go ahead from the council for allotments in Carnoustie so my store cupboard can hopefully expand.

I've found carrots, lettuce and blackcurrants quite good so far this year; but our potatoes were a complete disaster. I think it was the wet weather. We were growing them in bags which might have contributed?

Thought I would just say hello. :flower:

I haven't got the space for spuds - but from what I've heard and judging by my tomatoes it's been an awful year for blight.
Good luck with the allotment!

Hi Kiery and welcome.

I also had problems with my spuds and almost everything else this year.

I bought one blight resistant first early crop and one main crop of potatoes this year and the first earlies were absolutely finen as they were out of the ground before the blight hit. The main crop were terrible and I have a big bag of new potatoes to slowly get through.
