Hi Tremone.

I'm like you but in my case I have been sat behind a desk for over 20 years! I still manage to strip the grass off new areas. It really isn't hard work. Just do a small bit at a time. You're not really digging, more like slicing the top off a cake. It's surprising how easy and satisfying it is. And I'm a girlie so you should find it a doddle

I've sat behind a desk all my working days(about 10 yrs) so digging when there is an easier solution bring me out in beads of sweat. I think i'll get the wife to do it....
I wasn't implying you were infirm! I just try to offer advice that covers most extremes of physical ability (or reluctance). If I can cover what I do (at my level of physical ability and bloody mindedness) through to what Baldowrie can do (at her level of physical ability and bloody mindedness  ), then it should cover most people.

Me, bloody minded?

Where there is a will there is always away.......and yep have to agree with Stonehead he is 'bloody mad' (only kidding for those that don't know him)

Anyway you have to do things according to your own abilities and there is no hard and fast rule as to what is the 'right' or wrong way to do things. There is no way on this earth I could dig heavy soil or take up turf, so yes I used weed killer (and some burning off) for my patch and I am lucky the soil is loam but it took me weeks to do my small patch...would have taken someone like Stonehead an hour and hardly time break sweat.

This spring....I am putting the chickens in, that should sort it out in no time!

Well although my original resolution was that this place would be 100% organic, for the last two days I have been out spraying an inorganic systemic weed sprayer. We have 10 acres or very poor soil and an invasion of vipers bulgloss. Hand weeding is not an option. Also on the 1 acre lawn, strimming the edges round the stones edging the borders, really would be a full time option. So I have given in, untill we get the bugloss under control, weed killer it has to be, If I could find an organic weedkiller I would use that
Opinionated but harmless
