Another New Recruit!

Post: # 66833Post WiseBird »

First of all - Hi to everyone on this excellent forum/website. :hello2:

My Dream? A couple of acres with an orchard (for cider-making) and the ability to grow all of our own veg and keep a few chickens.

The Reality? I live in a terraced house in the middle of Bridport in Dorset with no garden (just a courtyard) with my hubby and black labrador 'Skipper' (neither of whom lay eggs!) but that doesn't stop me doing as much as I can to make life better.

I'm looking forward to learning loads and being inspired into making my dream a reality!

Hiya Donna, welcome to SSish! It's amazing though how much you can grow in a courtyard, in containers... So don't be disheartened!

Thanks for the warm welcome

...and you are so right ina...so far we have grown some fabulous tomatoes, herbs (of course) and even runner beans!

We did used to have an allotment but after struggling with the lack of water for a couple of years we eventually admitted defeat and now there are some lovely new houses standing where our runner beans used to...and these houses don't even have gardens

Still...we do as much as we can...I've mastered the art of bread-making and now I make all of the bread for our household (and quite often end up giving some away after guests have tasted it!) - and I really enjoy wine making (esp blackberry :drunken: ) hence the dream of a cider orchard!

Hi Donna and welcome! We have another Isher in Bridport - Hedgewizard - although he is a bit quiet on here these days.

Welcome WiseBird.

Just imagine if we could genetically modify husbands to lay eggs....

My husband would lay the best eggs
