We love hearing from you, so here is your chance. Introduce yourself and tell us what makes you selfsufficient 'ish'. Go on don't be shy, we welcome one and all. You can also tell us how you heard about us if you like.
I am a granddad, and a friend of ours is a week older than me, and we have the same rappore.
Have you tried making lavender oil, or drying it and making small smelly bags for clothes drawers, etc.
Robin
'You know you are a hard-core gardener if you deadhead flowers in other people's gardens.
To err is human. To blame someone else, is management potential.

thanks oha and Martin....by the way is Heathfield anywhere near Netherfield? I often used to camp in the field at the back of the Netherfield Arms with my motorcycle club. Not riding much now (waiting for my 1961 Ariel to be restored!) but hope to grow old as disgracefully as possible!
I had thought about lavender bags (although it's "old lady" stuff isn't it, LOL) bit like mothballs....
Netherfield is about 7 miles away!
Which Ariel? - one of the 250 two-strokes? - an "Arrow or a "Leader"?

she is an Arrow. She was given to me a couple of years ago having been found in a barn during a farmhouse clearance. She had been garaged in 1973 by the previous owner so has the maximum of 12-years' use since she was built, and 2 owners from new, but kept in the same family. I am looking forward very much to getting her on the road, as I have always loved the Arrow and the Leader. However, our lives are very busy and there are always too many things going on and not enough money to begin the restoration...but it WILL happen one day.
Oh yeah, the bike club is the Ariel Owners. I have been a member 40 years next year!!
The quick one! - excellent - as a kid, one lived just round the corner from me, and sounded great when gunned up the hill! If I remember right, they marketed it as being revolutionary because of the welded "backbone construction" - since adopted worldwide!
And when tuning them, some people put the heads on "back to front".........I can smell the 2 stroke now!

Hello everyone! I am a newbie from New Zealand! I am very happily married and have four children-a daughter 13 and sons aged 11, 6 and almost 2! We live happily in suburbia with a narrow not-quite 1/4 acre section. We have three little bantam hens(so far)one of which has just started laying. Still Winter here but we a gearing up for a self-sufficientish lifestyle with new gardens planned for spring based loosely on Linda Woodrow's mandela system (downsized!). We are complete learners actually! Today I bought my first lot of potatoes to ready for planting once sprouted. Very exciting! *waves*
