kids craft idea with corks - any ideas???

Post: # 65367Post Rainy »

hi
I have about 300 wine corks [thanks freecycle] and about 10 children [not all mine!] and want to do some craft with them. Ive looked at the threads on the forum that are related to corks but theyre all grown up stuff.
I thought of threading them to make snakes and jewellery but I'd have to drill them all first and I dont fancy that.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

pipe cleaners or cocktail sticks stuck in to the cork.. with paper flowers stuck on the other end... make a whole garden.. by the way the cork would be the flower pot... add it to the animals already suggested and you have a recycled ishers garden !

paint them differnt colours for teams... and see how many each child can throw into a pot.

smiley face some of them and float in a eashing up bowl with water and let the kids "bob" for them.. the smiley faces get a small prize.

make flower stamps with them by binding them together in a flower pattern.

cut out clothing shapes from scrap pieces of cloth draw on faces and have a tribe of cork people.

glue them together and make rafts .. stick in a cocktail stick to attach a small sail and have a boat race.

wow - thats great - my two boys and I are practising the boats and flower pots at this very moment.
The flower stamp is a good idea too - the little ones will love doing that - I think we'll make our own gift wrap and tags !
thanks for all suggestions
