I was too. I didn't watch it on principal - they don't have concerts for every dead person.

I didn't even know it was on until I turned the TV on last night to see if there was anything worth watching. The only thing I saw was a back R&B singer (no idea who), proclaiming that this event marked the rebirth of Princess Di, or some such twaddle.

I thought 'Hang on mate, your music, if not your culture, is born from slavery, oppression, injustice and inequality, and here you are supporting that system and telling us all how marvelous one of its priciple figures was???'

I didn't watch any more.

I watched it from about halfway through because there was nothing on on the telly. It was really enjoyable and I wished I'd watched all of it - unfortunately I'd only heard about Supertramp and Elton John being on and I had no interest in seeing them. Liked most of the rest though. Loved seeing Rod, Bryan Ferry and Connie Fisher.

Just ignored the Princess Diana was so wonderful etc etc barf twaddle!

I watched some of it, as I liked some of the bands/musicians in it. Don't like Elton John/Rod Stewart, but the Ballet, Andrea Boccelli, the ALW medley etc were good.

Just like MMM, I ignored all the spouty-gushiness about Diana. My dad died but I don't feel the need to put a concert on about it!

I just wish they'd let it all slip into the past where it belongs. A belief amongst pre-roman british tribes was that a persons spirit couldn't pass on to the next world as long as people were talking about them, guess who's stuck in Limbo if that's true.

I didn't like to say anything incase I missing a caring gene or sommut.

Look she was a nice person, etc , a mother etc, part of a f##k up system etc. But also bloody well off.

But at the end of the day shit happens. My dad died when I was four in a car accident, leaving me' mum to look after me on her own, I had to go to school a year early so she could go out to work as a teacher, but you don't see concerts being put on for m'dad.

And I've never seen bloody Elton round ours!. (If he did I could tell him where to put his candle.)

And as for the mass histeria on the funeral WHAT WAS ALL THAT ABOUT?

We were in Cornwall around St. Ives on our holi's Went for a walk , in an area famed for being touristy, not a single person!. Brilliant had the place to our selves.

I don't think that a concert is appropriate for a rememberance ceremony for a member of the royal family... she wasn't great, she wasn't brilliant, she was just a rich woman with a smigin of concience and some good PR guys. What about Mother Teresa, nobody is doing anything for her 10 year anniversary

It makes me feel even sadder when I think that I am still moved by what I remember of the 'Free Nelson Mandela' concert in Wembeley. To me that has been degraded by this sham.

I am not even going to start about the music... a lot of which she hadn't even heard, not really sure where the sense in that was, is it just 2 kids wanting to put on their own gig - If you book it, they will come

To be honest if you look into it she wasn't that nice, whenever Prince Charles was doing charity work in the later years she would do a surprise visit to a hospital and make sure all the press were focused on her rather than the charity Charles was supporting.
Having said that I remember the day she died, they put a depressing looped tape on the radio and the chef in the restraunt I was working in refused to turn the radio off! I might have been mildly upset when I first heard it but after 4 hours of the looped tape....
I do feel sorry for her sons though as it must make it hard to come to terms with the loss.

Nope, I don't feel sorry for them. I too lost my dad when I was 4 and y'know what we had to get the hell on with our lives, We were poor (although I never knew it) We needed food on the table (for 7 us) and I am afraid that is what happens to hundreds of children a year in this country. (I don't want to even bring up poorer nations... its too horrid to think of)

It is not a pleasant thing to live through, but you do. I empathise perhaps with them but not feel sorry... and I don't want anyone feel sorry for me either.

The rest of us don't go on about it, have memorials, have over the top funerals and talk about it all the time, we just get on with life.

I agree with Cheezy to.

As with anyone dying it's awful for those left behind.

She did some good which is always worht remembering but not the ridiculous sentimentality that's going on.

Let her rest in peace finally and stop harrassing people in public view.
