I was braced for an overgrown plot or a brand new bit of land- cringe
but Monday I was approached by someone who had 2 plots and was planning to give one up after his potato harvest- beautifully dug and weed free

He said I could put a few things in the unused corners and between rows, and as he lifts his spuds in Aug/Sept I can gradually take over.
I am so excited, not an ideal time of year true, but I just have to get some stuff in and show how keen I am- so what can I plant late June- July- Aug?
I have started some broad beans and peas, and was hoping to put maybe onions between his spuds?
He looks like a traditional type so I don't want to upset him with mixed companion beds, but thats the dream.
Hope dream and reality are slightly close with your help!
Oh yes and slugs- in my own garden they are oozing from the soil and despite beer traps, copper rings, seaweed, sand & gravel they devoured loads of my effots at home. I rad about the nemaslug (nematode worms) is this worth it? I ahve to use something dog-fiendly principles aside!!
Looking forward to your comments
