I'm not very convinced by my reasoning, but:
A river (water) runs and never wearies.
Fire can consume many things pretty well, so maybe it eats and is always hungry.
The ground (earth) can absorb a lot of water, so always be thirsty (although in some wetlands this is prolly debatable).
The wind (air) can whistle, so maybe it can be said to sing, too. Though I can't think why this is never good.
Am I close?
Right, Kid's Korner again:
What gets wetter the more it dries?

Yes, that's what puzzled me. I've even been googling the origin of the phrase 'it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good' to see if it can shed any light on this!! (Taking this a bit too seriously....Muddypause wrote:I'm not very convinced by my reasoning, but:

You're probably right that fire is hungry rather than thirsty though.
Ooh, I know that one! Won't give it away though.[/quote]Muddypause wrote:Right, Kid's Korner again:

They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

no sorry try again![]()
If they are the four elements, I'm guessing the first is water and the third is fire. Can't work out why either of the others should be air or earth though.Jarmara wrote:Any body had any luck with this one yet ?
There are four brothers in this world that were all born together. The first runs and never wearies. The second eats and is never full. The third drinks and is always thirsty. The fourth sings a song that is never good.

OK the 7 children one. All of them are boys? This way half of them are boys and so are the other half, meaning that it does not matter that there is a half child?

How indeed. I mean, isn't it an act of irrisponsibility to have so many children at a time when the world's resources are already being stretched beyond sustainability? This is just no way to act if we want to challenge the precepts of growth, consumption and expansion. Think of all those extra disposable nappies, of all the extra 4x4s doing the school run, of all the extra...........Bonniegirl wrote:A woman has 7 children, half of them are boys.
How can this be possible?
Oh, hang on. Wrong forum; sorry. As you were.
