Probably a really basic question, but I'm a newbie so please humour me...
Planted some spinach about 5/6 weeks ago straight into the ground. Although there are now some nice green leaves growing up at quite a pace a number of them have a greyish black "mould" which appears at the edge of the leaf then spreads to consume the whole leaf:
1- Do you know what is it?
2 - Can it be treated?
Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

It is mildew.
If it isn't too bad, cut off the affected leaves and you may be fine.
I have eaten silver beet that had a slight case of mildew - I just washed it well and wiped it with kitchen paper to remove it.
If you wish to spray it, there are plenty of chemicals you can get to do it, but I don't know of an organic method.
