Howdie from Herts!

Post: # 57215Post beeza »

Hiya, just joined today and thought it only polite to introduce myself...

On the first few runs of climbing the self sufficency ladder; just starting my second year growing veg and have inherited a log fire which i used a fair bit last winter.
Also love a spot of salvaging and skip raiding, which I guess is only natural considering my choice of profession (see below)

Getting into self suifficency partly for the obvious ethical and environmental reasons, but even more so from the more practical perspective of trying to live well on a stupidly tight budget - had to all but sell a kidney to buy a house with a garden in the first place!

Work for a waste management consultancy in central London - I specialise in advising local authorities on improving the effectiveness and effeciency of their recycling and organic collection services - am lovin all the recycling and waste min discussions and will definately be adding my ten penith worth.

Welcome to the forum Beeza. I suppose you go around checking on skips and things for local authorities and then see what's in them.

Hello and welcome. My house is full of things that should come in useful one day instead of going in the bin

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

Sadly skip raiding opportunities at work are rather limited, besides I'd have trouble getting any sizeable finds back home on the packed commuter train

Hiya Ms Fairy, nice to know i'm not the only aspiring selfsufficienteer in the county, live in Knebworth now but grew up in Potters Bar and WGC - and you?
