Saffron

Planted some saffron crocus bulbs (Crocus Sativus). The first flowers have just appeared so am right chuffed. We have about ten plants in all. Am not sure if they multiply or you have to buy more bulbs. Anybody know?

I've got a copy of one of the magazines like growing today somewhere that had an article on growing saffron.

Hiya -- we put some in a couple of years ago, and then last year I couldn't harvest any flowers (was ill at the time). This year, when I went to dig and divide them, there were about 5-6 new corms for each one that I'd planted 2 years ago. So, just give them a little time, and they'll replicate themselves exponentially!

I have meadow saffron - a kind of autumn crocus - is this the same? They have lilac flowers which are beautiful. Mine multiply.
