What can I do with old lipstick?

If you know of a way to help save our planet, even just a small part of it put it here. Also if you want to ask how to help, or even if you want to promote your environmental organisation. All goes here.

What can I do with old lipstick?

Post: # 56275Post Thomzo »

As I don't tend to wear a lot of makeup, I have several old lipsticks that have dried up and become unusable. Has anyone got any ideas what I can do with them to avoid them going into landfill?

Cheers
Zoe

If you have children or do arty things you can perhaps add them to oil based white artist paint. Or add them to candle wax and make new colourful candles

Hi
No kids so can't do that one but a good idea, except that, as the lipsticks are very old (three or four years), I wouldn't want to use them on a child's skin either. The idea of mixing with candle wax is interesting. I wonder if they would release any chemicals when burnt? I could use them outside which would probably be OK.

Just got to find a use for the case now.

Cheers

Aha. Or buttons or beads.

Nice one, Milims.

You can make your own lip balm and put it in the case - just pour it in i think.

Or...melt the lipsticks down and add to your home made lip balm for a 'colour wash' type affair.

I'd read somewhere that you shouldn't use old lipsticks because of the build up of bacteria but I would imagine that melting it down will probably kill the bacteria.
