Sheryl Crow only uses one square of toilet paper
Got sent this story today
Not quite sure what to make of it, if it was 1st April then I would have dismissed it. With all the other things that Crow could have picked on to help the environment is this really one worth doing.
I would end up using a lot more soap if I used 3 sheets for number 2's. [/url]

OK, That's weird!
Well as they say, any publicity is good publicity and this certainly fits into the "any" category.

I absolutely refuse to be made to feel guilty about doing a good job of the paperwork, so to speak. I use as much as it takes, and my personal environment would be much worse if I didn't.
Did anyone here Andy Kershaw on Desert Island Disks a few weeks back? His luxury was toilet paper, and said he always carries some around with him, where ever he is. He reckoned that one of the worst indignities is not being able to wipes ones bottom properly, and I kinda agree with him.

I lived in the worst house share known to man when I was an unemployed 20 year old. Everyone spent their cash down the pub and so we often had little or no food in and things like washing up liquid, washing powder were a luxury.
One of my house mates said oh we use newspaper when we run out of toilet paper. I was not having that, despite the fact that it was the norm many years ago to have squares of newspaper on a string I have been lucky enough not to have to do this. He slyly used to smile whenever I bought all the toilet paper. I soon discovered that he was simply too tight to buy it.
I soon started to hide toilet rolls for mine and everyone else's but his use. Guess what, yep he started to buy it.

Andy, you are lucky not having to use newspaper. When I was a kid, one of my jobs was to make sure that there was enough squares of paper in the dunny. We did not have toilet rolls. When tramping in the bush I have had to resort to moss, large leaves or anything that comes to hand.
Long live progress.

Errrm I remember it M3 - useless stuff! Actually use more lol.
I wonder whether Ms Crow has a bidet - that might explain her one sheet usage.
I've heard of people actually splitting the toilet roll ply and winding half onto an empty roll in an attempt to get people to use less!

oooh time for a rant!!!!
My mum is staying with me... Ms Crow would be climbing the walls by now as she's gone through EIGHT rolls of toilet roll (recycled, but even so!!!) since she has been here... that's a WEEK.
Apparently she uses it for all sorts of things. She's even bought her own from the shops - ANOTHER 8 rolls. I despair.
I hate such waste... hate it hate it hate it. She reckons I should just let her get on with it, but I can't.
Should I just ignore and bite my tongue for the next two weeks, or try to educate her in the ways of using less. I've been trying but every time I tackle this or any other of her less than green habits, the hackles go up and she shuts off and doesn't listen anyway. GRRRRR.
Thanks for the rant folks - perhaps I'll ask Ms Crow to come and visit for week two!

I heard somewhere that the army ration toilet roll on the field to one sheet per visit.
does anyone care to guess how you use your single sheet for a 2?
Answer to follow
As for the crispy paper I remember it really hurting when you used it
, sharp edges on loo roll... BAD, VERY BAD

The army method I know is...
rip a small hole in the middle, use the main square to keep your hand clean while your finger does the work then use the bit that was ripped out to create the hole to clean your finger.
Needless to say if I ever have the good fortune to meet Ms Crow I shall decline to shake her hand
