World Naked Gardening Day

So come on, keks off everyone!
No need, the druids get their keks off and dance naked around the standing stones from time to time. I thought it was village gossip until I met a woman who's actually been among the dancers...

Plus we have the fat, red-bearded chap who rides past on his pushbike in nothing but a kilt and wellies.

And of course our two boys who strip off at the slightest opportunity.

But naked gardening? Hovering above the nettles, blackberries, gooseberries and thistles? Gulp!

think my very few neighbours would be less than pleased if I did that considering my main garden is opposite them, and at the front of the house!

Are you guys aware of these people?

http://www.abbeyhousegardens.co.uk/

The couple who run Abbey House Gardens in Malmsbury are famous for gardening naked - even when the gardens are open to the public.

They once opened a new garden in an old people's home in nearby Wootton Basset and caused a heart attack or two

Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Apart from being a question of aesthetics, I think it is a question of safety: As has been mentioned - nettles etc, and sharp implements. I once worked on a farm in France where some went in for running about naked. Well, not me - I wasn't brought up like that, would have died of shame  - but I really thought that they were taking it too far when they did the cooking without clothes on - imagine hot fat out of the frying pan splotching all over some rather sensitive body parts - that would have caused some raised eyebrows at A&E, too!

It wasn't all like that - honest!

6 months on an organic goat farm, making cheese and all the rest of it. Didn't improve my French a lot, as the farmer spoke German quite well, his wife was German, and I was simply too tired most of the time to concentrate on a language that I'd always been at war with... I tried, but didn't succeed. Which is probably why I don't live in sunny France, but in rainy Aberdeenshire!
