i have noticed on me allotment people do things diffrent
if onions are pulled up can you plat them and dry them on the onion tree ?
its just sometimes onions seem to walk on our allotments but nothing else weird lol. any ideas to stop them getting nicked can you dry them inside any ideas please.and general storaage on carrots etc

Best not to dry your onions in a plait just in case of damp then they go mouldy. Lay them in a wooden slatted box (orange box from ggrocers) and put them somewhere dry and sunny and keep turning them then plait them when all the green has dried out.

I have heard of allotment thieves - its a rotten thing to do. :cry:

thanks lydds one of the guys who is old just cuts them off and bags thrm up in netts the stalk and leaves etc were still green.

I STORED MINE A FEW WEEKS AGO BEFORE THEY WERE REALLY DRY AND QUITE A FEW WENT ROTTEN
