Pine martins are about the size of a large cat and make a funky grunting noise.

Sorry to be pedantic (wot, me?), but I feel impelled to point out that it can't be any kind of martin (which would make it a swallow-like bird), but it may be a type of marten (which is a weasel-like animal).

We have stone martens round here which are a real pain as they like to get inside your house and party all night!

Jack go here and look at Ferrets as pests and you will see all about them in NZ where they have been crossed with everything.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferret

I am afraid what you have is the ultimate chicken killing machine...........i suggest a pack of vicious Terriers or poison

Gidday

I have three traps on the go.

None caught for a couple of days now so hoping what-ever they are they are now dead. They should help the veges so they will be eaten in the end Eh!

That's a ferret all right.
I caught a pure 100% white one the other week after it attacked my cat.
I set the trap and 10 minutes later I got it.
I can tell ya it sunk to high heaven.
Did yours sink?

Down here the population is beginning to build up again so I have to always be on the look out for them..
