Hi Nev, I made that bender for my workshop. I used 40x40x6 for the angle iron and 60x10 for the front bit. It is 800 long. My securing bolts are 120mm apart. I found that it works great on small stuff, but I bent a piece that just fittd inside the two outside bolts and the centre of the front plate was forced out a bit, and so not holding the sheet firmly enough. So I had to finish with a hammer. Otherwise it was a great addition to the shop.
Thanks for idea.
Robin

No worries Robin!
I'm pleased you find it useful. Mine has been in place for over 20 years and is still in use. Yes it is really for light duty only, but if you were doing the long stuff regularly it might be worth welding on a bit of angle iron as a stiffener along the front if there was room!

It's a nice idea but I guess it only scales so far. Having said that I've seen the ram on 250 tonne press brakes do the same:-)ohareward wrote:the front plate was forced out a bit, and so not holding the sheet firmly enough.
As soon as I get me a shed I'll be building a bench length bender, sadly I no longer have access to it's industrial bigger brothers.
