Hi there, I live in a beautiful stone house on five acres in southern Tasmania on the coast. There are three of us living togther myself and two males we are all mates, working on gardens , keeping ducks and chickens. we are presently producing almost enough veges and eggs for the household also spend alot of time fishing in the channel to provide a bit of meat.
We also spend alot of our time in the southern forest of Tasmania organising direst action to halt the clearfelling and woodchipping of Tassie's old growth forests. Tassie has some of the oldest forests in the world containing bone caves aboriginal history and untouched Gondwana reminent rainforest, industry is currently Clearfelling and exporting as woodchips. This is devistating to watch. the more destruction i see the more i know we need to be cutting ties with these systems, that we need to grow strong communities that are self sufficient, moving away from being reliant on governments who have nothing but $$ in there horizon.
Anyway, that's the reality down here as i assume it is in many many places. All we can do is Truck on mate!!
I have been brewing alot of beer lately and want to do a cider next as we have access to an unused organic apple orchard and have surplus at the momement, i found the scrumpy recipe on this site which led me here, How much sugar should i add with the apples ?? It doesn't specify and i don't want to use heaps but want it to still have a good alcoholic kick.??
Also i have recently got more ducks and wondering if anyone has a few tricks to get them to lay??
hope someone can help it's wicked to have found this site .
Sal
