Fruit paste

Post: # 50898Post ohareward »

This is a recipe that goes great with cheeses when with friends. :3some:
Tomato,Apple, Lemon and Pear Paste.
1kg ripe tomatoes,500g pears,500g cooking apples, juice and rind of 2 lemons, 1/2cup water, sugar.
Method:
Just cut the fruits in half, no need to peel. (Might need washing)
Place tomatoes, pears, apples and rind into a pot with water and lemon juice. Bring to the boil and cook until the fruits are soft. Strain through a sieve or food mill.
For every 500g(1lb) of fruit pulp, add 375g (120z) of sugar. Bring back to boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil for 1 1/2 hours, stirring often, until mixture becomes very thick. Pour into small sterilised wide-necked jars and seal. Bon appetit. :occasion5: :occasion5:
