Hi from sunny California!

Post: # 50713Post cat chloe »

Hello, self sufficientists! I live in Southern California, suburban world of smog and freeways, but that doesn't mean that I can't grow some food and reduce-reuse-recycle all kinds of stuff. My husband, two kids, and I have a fairly large backyard that came equipped with lovely rich soil, and we set up a nice garden plot in the back corner that yields bushels of goodies every spring and summer. There are two wonderful mature citrus trees, and I added a baby peach tree, a blackberry vine, and a table grape vine which I can't wait to harvest from, hopefully this year! We've got four lovely hens (two black australorps and two buff orpingtons--big, fat, fluffy egg machines.) I've made it my mission to only plant edible plants on my property, including our living christmas trees, which some day in the distant future will produce pine nuts. I also love to sew, and make things like jeans legs quilts. My husband is really into home brewing. He also has dreams of rigging the house with alternative energy. We've already learned a ton lurking on your site, so I finally got around to signing on to the forum.
Love,
Cat
