Hi, I used to be a small holder up north of new zealand, now seperated, I have a smallish saburban back yard, but am happy. I milked goats cows raised pigs chickens etc had a large orchard. Now my little house has 18 fruiting trees and bushes on it and im running out of space. I did have chickens but got paranoid about the bird flu, I miss them and would like to have them back, but am still paranoid about the bird flu. I have to set up a vege garden, the soil, well the clay is not the best so raised beds will have to be put in. I also have a hydroponics system which needs some fixing up but shouldnt be too hard to do. I have lupus, fibramyalgia, osteoarthritus, so keeping my body free of chemicals is very important to me. I loved the farm life but its not an option for me now. But I love this planet and want to do my part in keeping her alive and healthy. I want a world for my childrens children. Conservation of our enviroment and anyones enviroment is important to me. blessings to all

Hi from the Mainland. Welcome to the forum. We did the opposite to you. My wife and I lived in suburbia  in Christchurch, and we moved out to our present location 5 years ago this coming May. We have just over an acre and are close to becoming selfsufficientish in fruit, berries and vegetables and hope to have chooks in the next 2 months. Its good to hear from a fellow kiwi. Again welcome.
Robin.

I'm up in the beautiful wilderness of Enochdhu. It's just up the winding roads from Pitlochry (Perthshire).
