Ok this is going to be a bit long...
Having failed to find any partners to help us manage the rather large house and smallholding here in West Yorkshire, Ian and I have had to come to the conclusion that we can't continue here anymore. It is not fair to us, to the house or the land. Far better for someone else with more strenght and money to take it on. So, with great emotion, we have decided to sell up and move on, after 24 years of trying to rebuilding and cope. We have always planned to move before retirement, i.e. in some 10 to 15 years time, to a developing nation that would be cheaper, warmer and that could use our experience and business knowledge. However we have realised that it would be better to go now and spend more time learning the language and culture, while we are still in our forties. So we want to go and look for our new home, we are starting with a visit to South Western Bulgaria near the Greek border.
But we have sheep, angora goats, chickens, cats, dogs and even a snake to be looked after. Until we sell, we are still as usual struggling for cash, so we can't pay a farm sitter, but if anyone would like a holiday in a glorious bit of countryside, that is off the road, and very peaceful, just let us know. We are completely stuck on this one! I can foster the dogs, if needed, elsewhere, so if you have your own pets that would be fine. Just email us: lee@darkwood.co.uk
Thanks
Help! We are off....

Good luck with your move.
We too have had some big moves forced on us. Twenty years ago we lost our business, along with our house in London in the big crash in the eighties. We ended up coming down to Plymouth with our worldly possession's in two cars and a trailer. Mostly these consisted of our two kids, their gerbils and our golden retriever. It ended up being the best thing that had happened to us..yes it took some adjusting and settling in but within 18months we wouldn't of gone back even if you'd paid us.
Now my husband and I are weeks away from embarking on another adventure of moving to France. Half the time I'm filled with trepidation the other half I'm filled with excitement, but never am I filled with doubt.
Jill..
