Well, I have to say that this is a ripper thread, I nearly killed myself laughing, I suppose shoudln't mention the time (told to me by Mrs wombat) where, when she was a kid, woke up in the middle of the night a bit confused and wound up using her sister's sandshoe..........

Ummmm, how does one describe them.............white canvas upper, white rubber sole, generally worn during sports (at school and eslewhere) before the explosion of "trainers" "cross trainers" "runners" etc. that you see these days. They probably would have cost 10% of the price of the new style stuff and lasted 10 times as long. They were low tech without cushioning, arch support or air/gel pockets in the sole but they were cheap and effective. Now you mention it, haven't seen any for years.

But thanks for asking Karen, it is one of those things where you assume a shared heritage that doesn't exist!

They're called plimsolls in the UK, but apparently were called sandshoes a long time ago. Yes, they were used in school sports until trainers got popular. I remember them...I suppose that means that I'm old!?!?

:( Yes, but I'm only 27.

It's rude to ask one's age, but I can't imagine that you're over 40, given your avatar, Nev. We're not old, we're 'mature'...

Oh.....................sorry, Tay!

Your last post did give me a hearty laugh though, I was 50 last birthday. Although to be fair that photo is a couple of years old

But thank you anyway *bows low*.

Even if the photo is a couple of years old, you still don't look around 50. I'm surprised!

Careful now Tay... He'll get excited. We take good care of our oldies here.
That's his one compliment for the day. It's just tea and the odd sugar free bikkie for you now Nev.

No, we can't have him getting too excited as he is still recuperating from his recent op! Sugar-free biscuits don't sound too appetising though; is he allowed a couple of chocolate ones seeing that it is the weekend?
