Spring is nearly here

Post: # 48981Post Andy Hamilton »

I don't think I get full on SAD but I definetly get a touch of the winter blues. I am finding it very uplifting seeing a touch of sunlight still at just before 6.

Hoorah, SPring is nearly here. Definelty my favorite time of the year. Agree??

I'm quite fond of Autumn myself. It has a sense of fullness and completeness that no other season seems to hold.

Spring is a very close second though, full of hope and possibilities and the promise of good things to come.

I love the first day that I can open all the windows in the house and leave them open all day (without getting hypothermia) get the crisp fresh air in.

That was on Thursday

I'm with you :andy: I don't suffer from full on SAD but get down in the winter stuck in all day, however this year I have not suffered so bad as I 've been out more preparing the ground planting bulbs etc. I have also forced myself to get out there at every chance, it has certainly helped.

Summers too hot, Winters too cold. It's Spring and Autumn for me! I like to be comfortable.

My favourite season of all is autumn - it wins by a long shot. Next in line is spring, followed by winter and last but not least summer.

Main reason for not liking the summer so much is hayfever - it's blooming miserable and I don't like to take antihistamines etc. My 12 year old suffers really badly with it and it aggravates his asthma too :( I must say that I do love the longer daylight hours though.

I don't know if its just because I was in a really boring job and doing lots of driving instead of sparkying - but until 3 weeks ago I felt really bleugh - tired, heavy and bored. Over the last 3 weeks or so the sun has staretd to come out, the air is warmer, the mornings are lighter, the days are longer and I'm back out on site in the fresh air, doing LOTS of energetic work - and it feels great!!! This time of year is just the best!! Its like every day is filled with the anticipation of something new - fabulous!!!
Incidentally we were struck by how loud, long and vibrantly a bird was singing just out side our house in the very early morning of Valentines day - listening to the radio later that day it said that Feb 14th is the day that birds begin their mating stuff - how cool is that!! lol
Spring is fab!

Helen

The mistle thrushes have started singing here in the last week; there are several of them and they sing non-stop and it is very, very repetitive! I can hear them inside the house as well. The blackbirds haven't started yet though which is a big strange as I always thought they were one of the first. The chaffinch I noticed started about a month ago!

Yep, Spring is my favourite season, although we never really seemed to have had a winter if you go by what is growing in the garden.

From our house windows this morning, we can see four tractors, all working the land. Against a striking blue sky, to see hundreds of seagulls wheeling to follow the plough is quite a sight. Spring can't be far away.
