G8 summit - impact on me
Yes, me personally, now I am happy to put up with almost anything if those G8 guys do something good and MPH and make big efforts to cut back on pollution/climate change, etc. I do care and I do and have very recently marched in protest. But when I go to my local petrol station (who know me) with my wee can to get petrol for my lawnmower, I am told that I cannot buy this until July 11th incase I am buying this to make a petrol bomb. Living in Stirling just now is so weird, police are everywhere. I am not complaining at protesters being here at the Eco village, it's just annoying me when common sense doesn't prevail, the guy at the garage knows I buy petrol for my lawnmower. How annoying, my grass is going to be 3 foot high by the time this ban is lifted.

That behaviour of the guy at the garage is just plain stupid... If you really were wanting to make a petrol bomb, I'm sure you'd find a way of syphoning it out of your tank. And the ones wanting to create violent havoc probably are less likely to be from around here anyway - who wants to have a mess on their own doorstep? Better do that where nobody knows you...
What did that American that they interviewed on Radio 4 say tonight - it's not fair that they should do something about climate change if nobody else does anything - have I missed something, or has he???? (To be fair, the other American they interviewed was a bit more clued up. They are not all like their boss.) And that (British) bloke the other day - climate change isn't really a priority for him, he rather likes the sun... I'm just glad I have no TV, and don't listen to radio that much, either. I'd never stop wondering if I heard more along those lines.

Shiney, is that one of your poetic outbursts?
I heard from my boss this morning that it seems to be a general thing (all over Scotland?) that petrol must not be sold in cans until the summit is over. Well, how are we going to work that on the farm: We always buy large quantities in cans, as we need it for the quad bikes, the strimmer, the mower... Do we all have to go down in our private cars now, then return and syphon it off into the cans so we can continue to work?
The mind boggles!

Nope Ina it wasn't me!
The fact that you can't buy petrol in a can is madness. Just go and fill up your car and tell them you are going to make a whole batch of petrol bombs instead. Don't forget to buy some rag, matches and ask for some empty bottles whilst you are there.
Only joking folks.
What are they like?
There are a few nutters out there for sure and there are also a bunch of trouble makers who will go anywhere for a punch up.
I hope that the G8 blokes are going to do something other than chat around a table and stay in a luxurious hotel for a while. The trouble is that money and greed of the wealthy nations seems more important. The 'I'm alright Jack' attitude will stay firmly in place.
Rant over.
Now off to look at my triffid sized potato plants and calm down.
