At my dad's funeral we had John Lennon's "Imagine", and I still can't listen to it. My OH has become very good at spotting the first few notes and either removing me, or the music source before the words kick in...

On to the point of the thread.

I don't want a funeral. I want a bio-degradable coffin and shroud, a nice woodland area and a tree planted over me.

I'd quite like Time Team to dig me up and puzzle over me, that would be good!

I hate the thought of everyone sat being upset and having to take time off work, and dig out black ties and stuff.

On the question of what NOT to have at a funeral - most definitely not Vera Lynn's 'We'll meet again' - too mawkish and throat closing by half!

If I'm buried I'm going to make sure that it's with a lead plaque in most major languages forbidding the finder from exhuming me, televising anything to do with my body or removing it and express instructions to my nearest living relatives to hunt down anyone who does so. Maybe cremation would be the better option, can't stand the thought of Tony Robinsons of the future poking my remains.

I don't think I'd want a traditional funeral ceremony, the celtic tribes had a much better idea with the wake where you celebrate the persons life and the fact that they've moved on to new things.

Inappropriate songs... Road to Hell
