Its on my windowsill indoors! The link I have about growing ginger says it wont survive under 80 odd degrees so never put it out. Seems quite happy indoors - altho I cant see out of my window anymore lol

OK, I stopped watering my ginger and the stems went brown, withered and died - then I dug up the root. Each piece has grown enormously from the tiny piece I put in but theyre still not really big enuf to do anything useful with. There are a couple of shoots coming off them so what I want to do is keep them in their pot for another year and see if theyre big enuf then. The instructions for growing ginger says stop watering them in the winter so the energy goes into producing the rhizhomes but if I want to keep them growing should I continue to water them du think? Or should I leave it until the spring before watering them? Whats to stop them going rotten if I water them when they dont need it?

G'Day Mate!
I reckon you should leave them in the soil but stop watering.

Hiya Nev,
I thought that too but how will it know when its time to start growing again?

Good question, mate!
Stert watering when the weather warns up, when it gets warmer it should start to sprout again.
