My Chutneys too Sweet!
Hey all
Have just opened some plum chutney that I made in August only to discover that it is incredibly sweet, can I just empty it out add more cider vinegar recook it and re jar it, or is it all lost? Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

I would think that you could recook it. I have done so with jam that hasn't set. I would warm it up and then add vinegar until it gets to your taste. then boil it until it gets to the correct consistency. Good luck

oh Im sure more vinegar would work - chutney doesn't set like jam - it just gets thicker - so yes, if its really unusable (can't be used in cooking?) then I would tip it all out - add vinegar, and cook down to right consistancy again. taste before jarring.
good luck!
good luck!
