Hello World

Post: # 44133Post godfreyrob »

I've been a lecturer (in computing) for too long and last year left to write programs and try and make a living independently. So far I written 1 and not sold enough and my poor partner has had to pay most of the bills!
We have moved to a small house with a big garden in Otley, Wharfedale. My next program should be ready sometime in January (a wild food, flower finder and walkers jpurnal) and one day one of them will be a success.... I am sure.
We got 6 chicks (2 each of Blackrocks, Blue Belles and Columbines) this autumn and they are now laying nicely. The first greenhouse is up and we have some greens/salads to eat (Swiss Chard, Mizuma, Rocket, Pak Choy).
Looking forward to the days getting longer agian so I can get stuck into the veg patch......

Hi Godfreyrob

:welcomeish:

Your next programme sounds VERY interesting indeed. I'll look forward to hearing more about it once it's completed.

Hello and welcome to the site.

Your next program does indeed sound interesting I was thinking of doing something similar (eventually) that could be read on PDA or other mobile devices. - I would have thought that you would have already had that idea. Great work and good to here that someone else how can do it is. I hope that it eventually does pay the bills and if you need to find a market for it in January give me a shout.

Thanks for the nice welcome!
Nice to hear your enthusiastic response to the program idea too. Its something i have wanted to write for several years now. This autumn we went out on a few forays with the local fungus group (mid yorkshire fungus group) and this spurred me on a lot with the wild food idea (as well as preventing me from poisoning myself!). They are a great bunch and very welcoming - I recommend finding a group in your own area if you can, its easily the quickest and safest to learn what is good and what to avoid.

When the site to promote the program is ready I will happily tell you about it!

Welcome, warm greetings from Mafia. I like the sound of the next project, at some point we'd like to do something similar here - just need to get the building works finished first!
Have sold up in the UK, now living on Mafia Island, in the middle of an old coconut plantation. We catch our fish, have chickens, grow fruit and veg. We are powered by solar and an ankur gasifier - no mains elec here!!
