real tree or plastic tree for Christmas

I grew up in an anti-Christian family so we never had a Christmas tree. But my aunt with whom I spent many school holidays and Christmases was a devout Christian and she had a tree! I don't think it was plastic.

It was more like the coconut bristle brushes we use for cleaning out in Asia. (You can google 'coconut brush' Images to see what I mean.) So I wonder if it's worth thinking about making Christmas trees out of natural materials which are widely availabe and they can be re-used for years.

We didn't even have a tree until son insisted on one. We bought a fibre optics one and it will be the only one we have for a long time. It goes up only the weekend before Christmas, and comes down the week after.

Only just seen this thread, well for my twopenneth, I have a real tree, I love the smell the usual nonsense of getting it into the car,into the house putting it upright and slotting it into the holder, on a recycling basis I cut it up on Thursday have saved the bald bits to go straight on the fire, the main trunk is in the garden waiting to be cut up to go on the fire and the rest is in a box waiting for all the needles to fall of so that I can mulch the strawberries as apparently pine needles are very good for strawberries

my OH has brought his rotovater into the living room to do some work on the engine. He says it will take him until after Christmas so I`m going to put some tinsel and baubles on it next week.
Should look really festive

Well, I`ve just taken the tinsel and baubles off the rotovator! It did look rather festive but it looks as though it`ll be in the living room for a while yet! Hope I`m not going to do a festive Easter decoration on it!
