Hi. I'm in Leeds. I think one or two other folk in this forum are from this neck of the woods too - hi!

I'm a bit new to this self-sufficiency caper to be honest, but I have dabbled with homebrew (from a kit, but you've got start somewhere, right?) and grew a few onions and some garlic last year.

I've just had the good fortune to get an allotment about 100 yards from the house so I really don't have an excuse not to produce something a little more substantial this year.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to picking your brains for lots of useful tips - and hopefully contributing a few of my own too!

Hi Dave,

Yes there's a large self-managed site at Burley Park. A plot-holder I know over there reckons that the letting secretary says there's a waiting list but there are currently at least 5 unused plots on the site so depending how long the waiting list is, one of them may be available.

You can get the letting secretary's number from Leeds City Council:
T: 0113 395 7400
E: parks@leeds.gov.uk

If you don't have any joy, there are quite a few other sites dotted around Headingley. There's a map of all allotment sites in Leeds here, and again, the council will be able to give you contact details for the other sites.
