OH has just seen advert for sky broardband
Download speed Monthly Max Up to 16Mb Usage Cap Unlimited* Activation fee FREE Monthly fee £10
So thought he'd ring NTL as were with them to see what he could do to reduce our payments. we pay £25 month for 4Mb now down to £17 for 10mB BUT 10mB IS NORAMLY £35! just shows what a phone call can do. this offer is for 3 months then it will be reviewd. we will have to have the box changed but they coming to do that on thursday
Try it with your provider and see if they are willing to make a deal you never know it dosen't harm to ask.

Good plan!!! I doubt we'll get anything from BT as we haven't got much in the way of competition out here.
Definitely worth a try though - and I believe the same sort of thing can be done by phoning to cancel sky/mobile phones etc etc...

Is there actually any point to speeds like 16Mb? Are we just being sold numbers, here?
Over the years, I have gradually been upgraded for free from dial-up to, ATM, 1Mb, and to be honest, the last upgrade, a doubling of speed from 512Kb, I can't tell any difference at all. I suppose if you download a lot of movies and things, it matters, but the last big file I downloaded was in anycase limited to a pretty slow speed by the server it was on.

I don'e see the point in these faster and faster speeds, can't get any faster than instant though I suppose it's useful if you download a lot of things. I pay £30 a month for 4mg broadband, basic digital tv and phone from ntl because they disconnected us for no reason and messed me aroiund big time and I told them I'd be contacting my solistor and trading standards if they didn't sort it out so they offered us a special package
