Chicks

Post: # 42204Post monkeynuts »

A couple of weeks ago my son and I went to a local breeder (not a good one as I have since found out!) to buy him some 6 week old chicks. He bought 4 (speckled Sussex) and thery're doing great.
Whilst I was there the owner thrust 5 two day old chicks at me saying to take them as they would surely die as they were being badly picked on and she had no separate accomadation for them. I took them home and swiftly made a home made brooder!! Three of the chicks bums were bleeding from where they were pecked. One died the first night, one died last week and one died this morning  The other two seem fine at the mo but I'm watching them constantly!!
Fingers x'ed that they make it.

good luck with them. Its so nice of you to rescue them (for that's what it was...) from the breeder.

Keep us updated!

Yes indeed!!

I hope the remaining 2 survive... was it the ones with bleeding bums that died??

Yes it was but that had stopped immediately so not sure what they actually died of. It is possible that the stress killed them, but who knows.

DONT NOTICE THE TINY FLEA IN THE OTHER PERSONS HAIR AND OVERLOOK THE LUMBERING YAK ON YOUR OWN NOSE.
