we've just taken delivery of our gas cooker, it has to be used with bottled gas, i think we need to change the burner nozzles (we do have a bag of nozzles)we are just waiting for a 7mm socket wrench to change them.
My question is will we get a decent flame from bottled gas? at the moment with the nozzles in situ the flame is pathetic and the oven just gets lukewarmish. Please can someone advise, i am fed up with cooking on a mafuta ya taa (tiny kerosene camping stove)

Have sold up in the UK, now living on Mafia Island, in the middle of an old coconut plantation. We catch our fish, have chickens, grow fruit and veg. We are powered by solar and an ankur gasifier - no mains elec here!!

sounds like you've got titchy jets in it - it should work every bit as well as mains gas! 
As a rule of thumb, you're looking for jets with bigger holes for the gas!

There are a few on the early ones, but we packed the camera lead in the shipping (or rather himself did) and it won't be here for a while yet, we have been without our stuf since july!

My cooker now works!! we changed the burners and the hose and KUMBE! A working gas cooker!!! mind you had to wait a few days for the bits to be flown over from Dar, still 6000tsh for the parts and 5000tsh to fly them over (2500tsh to the pound) wasn't too bad, thank god for the cheapness of africa!

we had freshly caught tuna, baba ganoush, hummus and pitta, and a tomato salad, chocolate brownies with mango sauce to finish!!! real food at last!!
