Cabbage Caviar

I've got lots of little black eggs amongst the leaves of my brassicas. I'm sure they have been deposited there by butterflies.
Perhaps I should supply a photo (it's too dark now), just after a little reassurance before I scrape them off. Have been trying milk to discourage the caterpillars - Has this worked for anybody?

Don't know about the black eggs, but I think you should tell us more about using milk to deter caterpillars. I've still got cabbage white caterpillars munching away on me brussels, and it's November.

i found a tiny caterpillar eating my lemon tree seedling the other day!!

It may be frass (I think thats what its called) which is catepillar poo. Usually it's dark green, but maybe it can also be black. Check your cabbages thorougly because it may mean a catepillar is living in your cabbage and having coleslaw for it's breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I saw them spraying milk on the leaves of their brassicas. I assumed that it was to counter the caterpillars, given the state of the leaves. Having looked this up on the internet, like seems more likely it was fungal control. Spraying clay to combat caterpillars was mentioned a few times.

I should add, I enjoyed the cabbage last night. I used to hate cabbge.

Fry plenty of Smoked Lardons in a wok until well done, then stir in shredded cabbage.............
