naked seeds

Post: # 35255Post hedgewizard »

Some of my books talk about how delicious toasted pumpkin seeds are, but I gave it a go and found the woody husk inedible. Are they speaking about naked-seeded varieties, or is there some trick to this that I've missed?

I wouldn't eat the outer bit myself.. but the inside bit is scrummy!

Found this.... it says you can eat the outside bit, but does recommend simmering them first.

Fab. There are German varieties that have no seed coat and are grown commerically for the seed, but I'll give that link a try. Ta!

Oh yes it is the naked seeds that are nice tosted. Stick them in a dry frying pan the same as toasting any seeds.

An added bonus is that they are supposed to be good for lifting your mood.
